The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau of the United States Department of the Treasury (TTB) governs the spirits and wine industries in the United States at the federal level, including the manufacturing, blending, bottling, labeling, sales, advertising, and transportation of beverage alcohol. At the state level, similar regulatory frameworks exist. To help assure compliance with various laws and regulations, Aqueous Spirits maintains a system of federal and state licenses and permits.

We specialize in the expedited importation of alcoholic spirits, wine, and beer into the United States, working directly with registered Customs brokers. We manage the documentation and compliance necessary to meet the requirements placed on commercial alcohol shipments by government organizations such as the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). We handle the logistical needs of our suppliers, including maritime freight and in-land transportation. We transport both 20- and 40-foot container cargoes as well as LTL freight. To guarantee ideal freight rates, our brands’ inventory is stored in Customs-bonded warehouses in key transportation hubs. Additionally, we manage sample shipments by getting appropriate COLA Waivers from TTB, submitting FDA Prior Notices in accordance with FDA procedures under the Bioterrorism Act of 2002, and expediting the Customs clearance process.

In the United States, where it is typically prohibited for spirits and winemakers to sell directly to consumers, we sell our brands to distributors or (in states where alcohol sales are directly controlled) to state governments, who then sell them to retail customers and consumers. Our staff of marketing and sales specialists is always developing, and they work with our wholesale partners as local brand ambassadors for consumers and important retail accounts. The alcohol business is very competitive. Consumers’ selections among competing brands are influenced by brand awareness, brand provenance, product and packaging quality, taste character, and pricing. We plan and implement innovative marketing initiatives that incorporate advertising, merchandising in bars, restaurants, and stores, expert endorsements, social media, and word of mouth to impact customers’ purchasing choices. Throughout the nation, our specialized tasting events department manages brand activations and promotions, educating consumers and increasing sales.

We provide consultancy and product procurement to help you build your own unique bespoke brand of distilled spirits, liqueurs, RTDs, and cordials, as well as craft brews and flavored malt alternatives. We can produce private label beverages to fit any taste or budget by using our extensive worldwide product procurement network. We will walk you through the process of choosing a brand name, trademark search and registration, label and package design, sourcing and creating a bespoke recipe, and navigating a slew of state and federal tax requirements, all in complete confidence. Do you need assistance with sales or marketing? We build successful routes to market for our customers, from idea to the distillery, and finally to the shelf, using our skills and experience.
